CORONADO, Calif. -- A woman who was struck and killed near the Coronado Holiday Parade earlier this month has been identified, local medical officials said.Cynthia Lorraine Guiten, 69, was announced as the deceased, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said on its website.The crash occurred on the evening of Dec. 1 in the 1000 block of 5th St. It happened about two blocks from the parade on Orange Avenue. Police respond to shooting in Little Italy According to authorities, the woman was crossing 5th St. when she was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet sports utility vehicle. HOUSTON, Texas (AP) — Beyoncé’s childhood home caught fire early on Christmas morning, though the family living there escaped safely. The fire was reported at about 2 a.m. Monday and the Houston Fire Department arrived on the scene of the two-story brick house within three to five minutes, the Houston Chronicle reported. “We had it contained in about 10 minutes,” Houston Fire Department District Chief Justin Barnes told the newspaper.Beyoncé Knowles’ family bought the home on the 2400 block of Rosedale in 1982 and Beyoncé lived there until she was 5 years old. She was seen taking photos of the property when she was in her hometown for her Renaissance World Tour.The home in the historic Riverside Terrace neighborhood was built in 1946. Residents of one neighborhood in Hermosa Beach had their Christmas Eve festivities disrupted when they were evacuated from their homes during an hourslong standoff that ended with a man’s death. (KRON) -- A three-alarm fire badly damaged a commercial building in Los Altos early Christmas morning, according to police and fire officials. The fire was reported at 4:48 a.m. Monday at a two-story building covering more than 20,000 square feet on the 4600 block of El Camino Real, the Santa Clara County Fire Department said. An investigation got underway over the weekend after credit card skimmers were found at a grocery store in Sudbury, officials said. Roach Bros. Supermarkets in a statement said the skimmers were found on two self-checkout pin pads at the chain’s Sudbury Farms location off Boston Post Road on Sunday. Roach Bros. said it “immediately took steps to secure all registers at all locations and launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the activity.”Roach Bros. operates 20 grocery stores around Massachusetts. CHICAGO — One person is dead and another is injured after an overnight crash on the Northwest Side, police said.According to police, the deadly crash happened near the corner of Belden and Cicero in the Belmont Craigin neighborhood around 12:45 a.m.Authorities say a man driving a scooter, with another man sitting passenger, were headed northbound on Cicero when they collided with a gray sedan travelling westbound. Man shot after pulling knife during fight at Red Line station Both the driver of the scooter and passenger were injured and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. The Cook County medical examiner later confirmed that one person injured in the crash, a 28-year-old man, succumbed to their injuries.
