CHICAGO — A fallen Chicago firefighter will be laid to rest Wednesday.The funeral service for Lt. Kevin Ward will begin at 11 a.m. at the The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, located at 126 East Chestnut Street, just off Michigan Avenue.Ward was one of three firefighters injured in a blaze Aug. 11 in the 8300 block of West Balmoral in the city's Norwood Park neighborhood. He died days later.Ward, 59, joined the department in 1996 and worked out of Truck 9, located in the 5300 block of North Cumberland. GALVESTON, Texas (WFLA) — A Texas man died of a deadly bacterial infection after eating raw oysters, according to local health officials.Officials with the Galveston County Health District in Texas announced the man's cause of death to be Vibrio vulnificus infection last week."The resident who died in Galveston County was a male, within the thirty-to-forty-year age range and had underlying health conditions that predisposed him to vibrio infection," the department wrote in a news release.Officials said the unusually warm ocean water, seen around states like Texas and Florida, has contributed to an increase in Vibrio infections. Five people in the Tampa Bay Area, for instance, were previously confirmed to have died from Vibrio since January. WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved an interlocal agreement Tuesday to authorize expanded emergency medical service resources to certain area stations.The agreement was signed between Williamson County and the Williamson County Emergency Services District No. 2, or the Sam Bass Fire Department in Round Rock. ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - Last year, Richard Emery was sentenced to death for the 2018 murders of his girlfriend and three family members. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to an additional 210 years in the landmark conviction. In Sept. 2022, Emery was found guilty on four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his girlfriend, 39-year-old Kate Kasten, her two children from a previous relationship, 10-year-old Jonathan and 8-year-old Zoe, and Kate’s mother, 61-year-old Jane Moeckel. Prosecutors sought the death penalty on the murder charges. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Big changes start Wednesday at Riverview Gardens High School after multiple fights broke out on the campus Tuesday.School district leaders are taking actions ranging from how school is taking place Wednesday for high school students to what happens with homecoming this weekend.
